Learn planning and implementation of the Redleaf Family Child Care Curriculum including the domains of child development, elements of effective curriculum, and the role of authentic assessment in gathering information about young children’s development. Develop strategies to adapt curriculum to meet individual children’s needs. Explore scaffolding, age appropriate outcomes, and daily schedules. This class has been developed to address training requirements associated with Parent Aware.

#165025 Scaffolding Self-Regulation with Seven Senses

Identify seven of the sensations of the human body (touch, taste, sight, hearing, smell, motion/impact, and balance). Learn how those sensations relate to behavioral challenges. Examine how misbehavior can be a symptom of sensory dysregulation. Gain skills in and explore re-organizing the environment, providing appropriate tools, and planning activities to scaffold children in developing self-regulation in order to minimize behavioral challenges.

Note: Scaffolding Self-Regulation with Seven Senses is exclusively taught by Jen Rothmeyer.

This course provides an in-depth review of the Strengthening Families approach, including key aspects of the five Strengthening Families protective factors. Participants will identify strategies for supporting families in building healthy, positive social connections, and accessing concrete support in times of need as well as strategies for supporting families in building parental resilience, knowledge of parenting and child development.

This training meets the new training requirement for Family Child Care providers on Sudden Unexpected Infant Death. The training curriculum will address state regulations and national recommendations to reduce Sudden, Unexpected Infant Death (SUID) including SIDS, suffocation, and other sleep related infant deaths. Safe sleep environments will be discussed, as well as consequences of non-compliance with state regulations. Examples of a safe sleep policy will be available.

This class meets DHS Licensing training requirements for both Sudden Unexpected Infant Death (SUID) and Abusive Head Trauma (AHT). Content includes recommendations to reduce Sudden, Unexpected Infant Deaths (SUID) including SIDS, suffocation, and other sleep related infant deaths; safe sleep environments; MN Child Care regulations related to safe sleep; as well as symptoms and consequences of abusive head trauma, risk factors for abusive head trauma; strategies to use when stressed, angry or frustrated.

This course is required if you are providing legal nonlicensed child care to an unrelated child and want to be paid by the Child Care Assistance Program (CCAP). It meets the health and safety training orientation requirement. Participants will explore challenges related to providing child care in their home for the children of families, friends and neighbors. We’ll look at strategies that can be used by providers who want to pursue a career in child care and those who only provide care to children informally.

This series based course intended for new Family Child Care providers meets Licensing pre-service requirements as well as the health and safety requirements from the Child Care Development Fund. Participants will explore MN Rule 2 licensing standards and best practices around supervision challenges experienced by family child care programs. We’ll look at strategies a child care provider can implement within their setting.

This 2-hour behavior guidance course will meet the licensed family child care annual training requirement. The objectives of the training are to help participants: learn about how very young children’s behavior is a form of communication and has meaning; and strategies to use to increase their capacity to support positive social emotional development through positive relationships with infants and toddlers.
